Year End Inventory

Contributed by Carl Willis on Nov 28, 2017

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 13:5 (Note: Scriptures verses changed from NLT to KJV)

Summary: Year End Inventory: Taking stock of what’s in your heart

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? (2 Corinthians 13:5)

Examine Your Consecration

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. (Romans 12:1)

Are you dedicated to Him?

Is all you have dedicated to Him?

Is each part of your body committed to God for His service?

Romans 6:13, 16, 19

Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. (Romans 6:13)

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? (Romans 6:16)

I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness. (Romans 6:19)

You Should Examine Your Conduct

Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. (1 Corinthians 11:1)

How Is Your Home Life?

How Is Your Social Life?

How do others view the way you live out your faith?

Ephesians 5:11

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. (Ephesians 5:11)

Ephesians 5:15-16

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. (Ephesians 5:15-16)

Examine Your Influence

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.       15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5:13-16)

Is your light shining?

What are you doing to make the Light within you visible?

Philippians 2:15

That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; (Philippians 2:15)

Matthew 5:16

In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. (Matthew 5:16)

Examine Your Love

But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.          (1 John 3:17-18)

Do people see it in your actions and character?

Examine Your Ideals

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.(Romans 12:2)

What is God’s good and perfect will for your life?

Examine Your Attitude

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.(1 Corinthians 13:2)

Toward Christ

John 14:15

If ye love me, keep my commandments. (John 14:15)

Towards others

Galatians 5:13

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. (Galatians 5:13)

Towards yourself

Romans 12:3

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. (Romans 12:3)
