Christian encounters three men – Simple, Sloth, and Presumption – who represent spiritual dangers after conversion. Simple lacks wisdom and is easily led astray. Sloth is physically and spiritually lazy. Presumption is arrogantly self-reliant rather than dependent on God. Christian tries to warn them but they refuse his counsel, preferring to sleep rather than remain spiritually vigilant.
